Any home renovation has the potential to overwhelm a homeowner, especially when it involves one of the two most important rooms in the house: the kitchen and the master bathroom. That’s why it’s so important to have a strong partner to quarterback such an undertaking. Not only will the right designer make sure the renovated space reflects the needs and lifestyles of the people who use it, but said designer will also strive to complete the work with as few disruptions or roadblocks as possible. And if something unexpected does occur, the right partner will aspire to resolve the issue to the homeowner’s satisfaction. Carr Home in Chalfont specializes in kitchen and bath renovations, and co-owner Colby Carr is particularly fond of renovations that involve the kitchen—“the beating heart of the home,” as he calls it. He takes pride in making sure each client’s renovated kitchen is not only elegant but also efficient. He says that although the heavy lifting should fall to the designer, the homeowner bears some responsibility, too. “As you’re entering the design phase, some homework will involve looking at what kinds of appliances you want to have,” Carr says. “Otherwise [the homeowner’s] job is to be honest with the designer about how they use the kitchen and how they want to improve their life.” Carr Home is among the many fine design-build firms and other companies that specialize in revitalizing homeowners’ kitchens and bathrooms.
